MSME Registration

All units are divided into three categories
Micro units : Manufacturing units in which investment in Plant & Machinery is up to Rs. 25 lac
Small Scale units : Manufacturing Units in which investment in Plant & Machinery is exceeding Rs.25 Lac up to Rs.5 crore.
Medium Enterprise : Manufacturing Units in which investment in Plant & Machinery is exceeding Rs.5 crore up to Rs.10 crore.

Provisional Registration Certificate (PRC) This is given for the pre-operative period (Till the production is started). PRC serves the following purposes.

Enables the units to obtain the term loans and working capital from financial institutions/banks under priority sector lending.
Obtain facilities for accommodation, land, other approvals etc.
Obtain various necessary NOCs and clearances from regulatory bodies such as Pollution Control Board, Labour Regulations etc.

Procedure For Registration

Unit applies for PRC in prescribed application form. No field enquiry is done and PRC is issued. PRC is valid for five years. If the entrepreneur is unable to set up the unit in this period or till the commencement of production whichever is earlier.
